3 Easy Ways to Cut Your Utility Bills

(Without Changing Your Lifestyle)
Let’s be honest - and I know we don't want to think about it in the summer - but no one wants to get to the winter and sit in the dark wearing two jumpers just to save a tenner.
The good news is that you don’t have to.
Most of the people I help are overpaying for things they haven’t even thought to check in years. So here are three easy wins that can make a big difference - without you having to change your routine.
1. Check what you’re actually paying
Not what you think you’re paying. Not what you used to pay. I mean what’s coming out of your account right now.
Bills creep up slowly, especially with energy, broadband, and mobiles. What started off as a decent deal 18 months ago could now be quietly bleeding you dry.
⚡ Top tip: Dig out your last statement and see what you're being charged. Then compare. If you’re not sure how, just ask - I’m happy to help.
2. Stop spreading your services across 5 different companies
Gas here. Electric there. Broadband somewhere else. And of course, they all blame each other when things go wrong.
Bundling your services doesn’t just make life easier - it usually saves money too. One bill, one point of contact, and one UW based customer service team.
3. Don’t assume loyalty = rewards
I say this with love: your current supplier probably doesn’t care how long you’ve been with them.
Most companies don't reward loyalty any more. You’re rewarded for switching - not for staying. If it’s been more than a year or two since you last reviewed things, the chances are you’re on a “standard” tariff. That means that you’re probably paying too much.
Even if you’re in a fixed deal, there might be ways to get out of it. UW, for example, refunds up to £400 in exit fees if you switch multiple services.
One last thing…
You don’t have to do it all yourself. I help people do this kind of thing all the time - no pressure, no jargon, no clipboard. Just a quick check to see if we can make things easier (and cheaper).
