Why I Joined Utility Warehouse

(Spoiler: It Wasn’t For The Commission)
I wasn’t looking for a new business. I wasn’t looking for a side hustle. What I was looking for… was a better way to pay my bills.
Like a lot of people, I was pretty settled with my supplier - until it went bust. One day I was on a great tariff with a green energy company and the next I’d been moved across to one of the "big six" and my bills tripled.
No warning. No choice. Just a massive bill and the growing sense I’d completely lost control of something that shouldn’t be this complicated.
I found UW by accident
I’d never heard of Utility Warehouse. But when someone explained how it worked (thanks Lucy!) - one simple monthly bill, proper UK-based support, and lower prices by bundling services - I was instantly curious.
I wasn’t trying to start a business. I just wanted to stop overpaying.
So I switched. And immediately, it just… made sense. The service was clear, the savings were real, and everything was handled for me. No faff. No chasing anyone. No call centre nonsense.
Then something funny happened…
As soon as I started telling people about it, they started asking me to check their bills too.
I wasn’t trying to “recruit” anyone - it just came up in conversation. And time after time, I’d look at what they were paying and think I could save you money.
Before I knew it, I’d helped my first 6 customers and I was suddenly a qualified agent. That's when I realised this wasn’t just about my own bills anymore — it was about helping other people feel a bit more in control, too.
Why I stuck around
Because it works. Because people genuinely save money. And because it fits around the other things I love doing in my life - music, travel, theatre - without taking over.
So no, I didn’t go looking for UW. But I’m really glad it found me.
If you're wondering whether you're overpaying (you probably are), I’m always happy to take a quick look - no pressure, no jargon. Just a friendly check-in to see if we can make things a bit easier.
